Objectives

 

Our GENERAL OBJECTIVE in this project is to carry out a detailed and specific study of the women of the Nasrid Kingdom of Granada and the Marinid Kingdom of Fes during the thirteenth, nineteenth and fifteenth centuries. We will address the analysis of all its vital and identity aspects, explore its roles, presence and actions in both the public and private spheres, and establishing comparisons between the two female sectors. This study will be contextualized within that of the women of Islamic societies of the medieval Mediterranean and especially the females of the contemporaries of the Mamluk Kingdom of Egypt (XIII-XVI centuries), whose vital realities will be proven.

The SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES of the project are as follows:

  1.                 ADDRESS THE STUDY OF THE WOMEN OF THE NAZARI KINGDOM OF GRANADA (XIII-XV CENTURIES)
  2.                 Rebuilding the women’s sector of Nasrid society and the daily lives of women in the Kingdom of Granada
  3.                 Continue to analyze women’s participation in Alhambra politics and diplomacy
  4.                 Deepen the study of the participation of Nasrid women in the economy and their rights and legal actions
  5.                 ADDRESSING THE STUDY OF WOMEN OF THE MERINÍ KINGDOM OF FEZ (XIII-XV CENTURIES)
  6.                 Rebuilding the women’s sector of Meriní society and the daily lives of women in the Kingdom of Fes
  7.                 Studying female participation in the politics and diplomacy of the Meriní court
  8.                 Deepening the study of the participation of meriní women in the economy and their rights and legal actions
  9.                 CONDUCT COMPARATIVE STUDIES AMONG WOMEN OF ISLAMIC SOCIETIES OF THE MEDIEVAL MEDITERRANEAN (XIII-XV CENTURIES)
  10.                 Explore the field of influences exerted between Nazari and Meriní women respectively
  11.                 Establish comparativeanalysis with the female sectors of other medieval Islamic powers: Mamluk Kingdom of Egypt (XIII-XVI centuries)
